State vs. Me - Update

I've been talking to a lot of people and I've been gathering quite a bit of UNprofessional opinion regarding my current legal situation. So far, few opinions have matched any others. Here are a few theories I've been hearing:

- You'll be out in half time...
- You'll serve 30 days no matter what...
- They'll keep you in minimum security for sure...
- You're going straight to maximum, min. gets full quick...
- The time will fly by...
- You're gonna wanna kill yourself in there... okay, maybe I said that one to myself ;)

Anyway, I'm meeting with my lawyer on Saturday. I assume he'll have the answers to all of these opposing theories and I'm just hoping for the best.

The other thing I'm planning on asking him about is house arrest. My boss was telling me that one of his friends got charged with copyright infringement. The FBI was involved and everything. Now the guy is on house arrest, never spent a day in jail, and gets to leave to go to work too. He runs his own business and I'm assuming the judge may have decided in favor of the economy and is letting the guy keep his business open for the good of the people.

So I was thinking, if my boss would testify to the fact that his business WILL fail without me for a month, maybe I'll get the same deal. It actually happens to be a completely true fact. It's a fucking long shot but I'm thinking it's worth one at least. I'm not getting my hopes up or anything but... I'll let you know what happens with Attorney face on Saturday.

Wish me luck :)

Career Builder

I've been working, for the past 2 years, in a warehouse in Deep River, CT. I started at the bottom and worked myself to the top. I've worked hard and developed an emotional investment in the company to get where I am now. Of course it helps that this is a horribly failing business and the rest of the employees either quit or were fired for lack of work. It still counts though, right? Maybe.

Anyway, we recently down sized the business to accommodate for declining sales. We've moved operations to my boss's basement. His smelly, unfinished basement. He did set up my desk and packing table to my liking and cleaned most of the cob webs from the ceiling. It's just great. All I could ever ask for, really. Finally, an environment that really matches the way I've been feeling lately. Cold, dark and miserable.

There are some definite disadvantages to working out of some creepy, poly amorous, old guys house. Just the other day for example, the boss told me that he was going to be having company for lunch that afternoon around 1:00 lasting until about 2:00. He prefaced the luncheon with a bit of advice and that was to maybe turn the radio on. The door bell rang. He answered the door. For the next hour, I kid you not, even with the radio blaring at maximum volume, all I could hear was banging, knocking and moaning that shook the rafters, not to mention my soul. It was gross as hell. (And he's married to someone else, by the way) He came downstairs around 2:15, face beat red and a different outfit, and started talking about the weather or some crap. UUGHH!

In short, I've really been shaping my resume quite nicely. From shipping and receiving, to customer service, to running an entire business right into the ground. I've now even mastered the art of professionalism in the most unprofessional of scenarios. It honestly took all I had not to run out the front door screaming. See because then I wouldn't get a paycheck anymore and no good comes from that. None at all.

The State of CT vs. Sheriden Jansma

The following represents events taken place between April 24, 2007 and January 20, 2009 concerning the state of Connecticut vs. Sheriden Jansma:

April 24, 2007 - Arrested for DUI in white Honda Civic, Middletown CT, Route 9, Exit 10, 2:00am. BAC 2.9
Applied for Accelerated Rehabilitation. Granted. 15 Alcohol Classes at Rushford. License suspended 8 months. Applied for a Work Permit. Granted.

November 23, 2007 - Incident of DUI, Driving under suspension in blue Dodge Ram Conversion Van, Durham CT, Route 147 (Middlefield Rd) 12:00 am. BAC 2.1
Avoided arrest via ambulance to New Haven Hospital.

April 4, 2008 - Arrested for DUI of November 23, 2007
Hired Attorney Jake Donovan of Cromwell CT. DMV suspended license for 20 months. Appeared in court once a month for 9 months on continuances. The Commonwealth Group requires a 4 phase rehabilitation process including a weekend "retreat-ment". 8 intensive outpatient sessions. Quarterly behavioral assessments. License will not be reinstated until all phases are completed taking no less than one year's time.

January 20, 2009 - Most recent court appearance. I've been offered a pre-trial deal. In the event I accept, this case will never go to trial and sentencing will ensue February 24, 2009. End of story. Should I decline, the case goes on to trial and, as I am undeniably guilty, the book will not only be thrown at me but it will sprout human appendages and brutally rape the shit out of me. So, the deal is as follows:
DUI 1 - 2 days jail, no felony conviction.
DUI 2 - 2 days jail, no felony conviction.
Driving under suspension - 30 days jail, no further suspension beyond what is deemed by the DMV.

Grand Total: 34 days jail time beginning February 24, 2009 in York Correctional Institution for Women of Niantic, CT.

These have been the facts. How I feel about them is another story entirely.
