I am no longer the hoodless wonder!!!

For those of you that don't know, but have probably seen me driving around wondering who the fuck was in that car, yes it was me. I have been driving around in my car without a hood for the last month (probably longer) with no hood on my car. it's a loooooong story that I HATE repeating because I've told it a bajillion times lately, mainly to complete strangers who have the audacity to come up after blatantly staring and say " hey u know u have no hood?" or something dumb like that. mainly it got annoying because it's not at all as exciting of a story as people expect it to be.(after a while i got tired of it and started replying with things like "really?? i hadn't noticed!!" or my personal favorite "WHAT!? OMG IS WAS THERE WHEN I WENT INTO THE STORE, SOMEONE MUST HAVE TAKEN IT OMG!! hahaa figured i might as well get some amusement out of it as well) anywhoo this seems like a good story to start my blog with and a final way to get the whole story out and never have to answer questions again. so here's how this whole thing started.

It ALL started the day i got into this little accident (minor, just got a warning, no damage to the other car, just mine, which was extremely fortunate cuz i was driving without insurance) and my hood got crushed under this car and the latch broke, making it very tricky to open, you had to pull the cable VERY hard which led to problem number 2..

The cable snapped from pulling it too hard. I was doing this alot cuz i had to open my hood alot cuz my car has this nifty little habit of turning off while i'm driving, no biggie really, just gotta jiggle the battery terminal and ur all set to go. this was difficult with a hood that was hard to open however and became IMPOSSIBLE to open once the cable snapped.

so problem number 3, my car turned of while i was driving, as it sometimes does, only this time, i had no conceivable way of opening my hood. so someone had this genius idea of just taking a power saw to the front and opening the area around the latch like a tuna can. quick fix. looking back not the SMARTEST, but quickest, yes.

so, got the hood open, jiggled battery wire, car started, all set. now the only problem was making sure the hood stayed down.....a bungee cord was the obvious answer. just to keep u all up to speed here, when u open a hood with a power saw, there's lotsa jagged metal sticking out everywhere right near the bungee cord. I think we all no where this is going....

So i'm driving down the highway about 20 mins after this all takes place, carrie and kevin in the car behind me cuz we were all going to their house, thank god, cuz all of a sudden, BOOM! the metal shards slice the bungee cord and my hood flies up as i'm doing 75. it was deff one of those moments where it seemed slow but musta happened fast obviously. (I was also more calm then most people woulda been in this situation because it's not the 1st time i've been in a car when the hood has flown up, but that's a story for another day...) and i swerve a little but keep a cool head and manage to switch lanes and pull over without any accident taking place. the hood cracked the top of my windshield and warped the hinges beyond repair, so it wouldn't go back down. It was obvious the only solution was taking it off, so kevin unscrewed the hinges and we chucked it over the guardrail. after taking it to a mechanic the next day and being told there was no IMMEDIATE danger to my engine driving around without a hood, i decided to take my chances till i could afford it. what else could i do? i had to get to work. so off i went for the next month braving the humiliating stares and questions and even getting pulled over a time or two ( but to the cops amusement and mine, it's actually NOT illegal, it's not my FAULT it happened and as far as i told them, i was just waiting for the part to come in and had no other way to get to work, so i was off the hook every time)

so that's how it all happened. but now i finally have a hood so yay for me. the end.
